New on the Job: Q&A With Estevan Garcia, Dartmouth College

One such newcomer is Estevan Garcia, who has recently joined the team as a new staff member.

Garcia, who hails from New Mexico, brings a wealth of experience and passion to his new role at Dartmouth. With a background in higher education administration and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Garcia is poised to make a positive impact on campus.

In order to get to know Garcia better, we sat down with him for a Q&A session to learn more about his background, his goals for Dartmouth, and what he is looking forward to as he embarks on this new chapter in his career.

Q: Can you tell us a little about your background and what drew you to Dartmouth College?

A: I come from a multicultural background, with roots in both the Latinx and Native American communities. This has fueled my passion for promoting diversity and inclusion in higher education. I was drawn to Dartmouth College because of its strong commitment to these values, as well as its reputation for academic excellence and innovation. I am excited to be a part of such a dynamic and forward-thinking institution.

Q: What are your goals for your role at Dartmouth?

A: My primary goal is to support and empower students from underrepresented backgrounds, ensuring that they have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive at Dartmouth. I also hope to foster a sense of community and belonging among all members of the campus community, regardless of their background or identity. Ultimately, I want to help create an inclusive and welcoming environment where all students can succeed and reach their full potential.

Q: What are you most looking forward to as you start your new role at Dartmouth?

A: I am most looking forward to getting to know the students, faculty, and staff at Dartmouth and building relationships with them. I am excited to hear their stories, learn from their experiences, and collaborate with them to make the campus a more inclusive and equitable place. I am also eager to explore the beautiful campus and surrounding area, as well as engage with the vibrant academic and cultural community that thrives here.
